Fertility (Infertility) tests

It is crucial to understand that the repetitive failures in conception may be caused by the health problems of one or both partners. That is why the complex screening of man and woman (fertility check-up) is necessary not only to find what prevents them from becoming happy parents but also to find the best solution. It is hardly possible to diagnose the issue the patient has faced without the results of fertility tests.

We care about the qualities of the services we provide; that is why before starting any infertility treatment program with "Parens Fertility," our patients have to undergo several medical tests. Both men and women should also undergo some doctor examination. Our fertility experts use the results of such a complex evaluation to identify the problem and develop a treatment scheme.

Depending on the type of procedure you need, this list can change, even such as simple procedure as intrauterine insemination (IUI) requires a number of tests. At the very beginning, your doctor needs to see your pelvic ultrasound and the basic semen analysis reports. In some simple cases, it is possible to diagnose the condition or disorder and recommend a specific treatment program for you even with these limited test results. However, it is hard to predict how many various tests on average one or another patient may need.

Fertility tests for women

Female reproductive health is highly complex and requires a careful diagnostic approach. First of all, doctors recommend women check their hormones, such as AMH, LH, E2, Progesterone, FSH, Prolactin. It is also essential that her thyroid function tests are normal because such hormone disturbances may interfere with the successful implantation and carrying of the baby.

Some of such tests should be done on the specific days of the menstrual cycle. The good smear results are also important as they may indicate the inflammation processes or infections that may impede the child`s birth.

Before the egg collection or/and embryo transfer, a woman needs to do tests for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, and RW (Wassermann test). In addition, she should undergo several ultrasound diagnostic procedures, such as abdominal one or the examination of mammary glands and thyroid. There might be other infertility diagnostic procedures which are not standard and which doctor can recommend personally to you. These may include hysteroscopy, some additional blood work, HSG, etc.

Fertility tests for men

In many cases, when couples struggle to get pregnant, the problem is due to the male factor – issues with quality or motility of sperm. To be sure of the quality of sperm and get all information to assess possible results of the treatment, men need to do the semen analysis, blood testing, DNA fragmentation, the HBA and MAR tests.

Having all the results, a doctor can be sure both partners are prepared for the IVF program. If a doctor reveals a medical issue that stops the couple from starting their treatment, he/she first resolves it by prescribing medication or some special therapy and only after that goes back to the stimulation itself.

All couples over 35 years are often recommended to do karyotyping. This genetic testing will show the number of chromosomes as well as their size and structure. It is necessary to take this test to prevent a possible miscarriage or even the birth of a child with inherited genetic disorders.
